MA-JC: Machine Applique with Jan Cunningham

This will be one six hour session on learning to machine applique'.

This class will teach the method for Machine Applique that is taught by Sharon Schamber in her book "Piece by Piece".  You will construct a small flower piece and will learn every step of this technique and then be able to translate it to your own applique'.  We will use a stabilizer that was developed by Sharon.  You will have enough stabilizer for the class included in the class kit.  The stabilizer stays in and gives the applique' a trapunto look when the process is completed.  You will use a glue stick from the kit to form the pieces around the stabilizer.  Then use liquid glue (which you supply) to apply the pieces to the background.   Finally, a very small zigzag stitch is used to sew the pieces to the background with mono-poly thread.  When sewn you will soak the entire piece in medium hot water with synthrapol to remove the glue and turn the stabilizer into fiber fir the trapunto look.  The background fabric shrinks just enough to roll the edges under to give it the look of hand applique.  This 6 hour class is guaranteed to be a lot of fun!
